Training or Emergency Duty

University employees who are members of the National Guard or a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States are eligible for a leave of absence from their position for emergency duty or training. For two weeks, the University shall pay the difference in the employee’s regular pay and the amount received for military pay. A regular staff member must submit a request to use administrative leave with pay for military leave on a Request for Leave Form to an immediate supervisor. The request shall indicate the times and dates when the leave begins and when the employee is to return to work. A copy of the military orders for training or emergency duty must be attached. The request shall be submitted at least two weeks prior to the beginning date of the leave of absence, if possible. The supervisor, department head and the Human Resources Director must approve the request in writing.

Extended Military Service

An employee shall submit a written request to an immediate supervisor and the Human Resources Director for a military leave of absence without pay for an extended period. A copy of the military orders must be attached. Employees entering military service or serving as reservists or National Guard members shall be permitted to return to employment as required by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act. Please contact the Human Resources Director for details.
