2.3.1.0.0: Bereavement Leave
A full-time employee is afforded an authorized paid bereavement leave according to the following schedule:
- Full time employees are allowed up to five consecutive days off from regularly scheduled work with regular pay in the event of the death of the employee's spouse, domestic partner, child, stepchild, parent, stepparent, father, father-in-law, mother, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or an adult who stood in loco parentis to the employee during childhood.
- Full time employees are allowed up to three consecutive days off from regular scheduled work with regular pay in the event of the death of the employee's, aunt, uncle, grandparent, grandchild or spouse's grandparent.
- Full time employees are allowed up to four hours of bereavement leave to attend the funeral of a fellow employee or retiree of the University.
Limits of leave may be extended at the discretion of the employee’s supervisor and the Human Resources Director.
