2.3.1.0.0: Bereavement Leave

A full-time employee ​is afforded an authorized paid bereavement leave according to the following schedule:

  • Full time employees are allowed up to five consecutive days off from regularly scheduled ​work with regular pay in the event of the death of the employee's spouse, domestic partner, child, stepchild, parent, stepparent, ​father, father-in-law, mother, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or an adult who stood in loco parentis to the employee during childhood.
  • Full time employees are allowed up to three consecutive day​s off from regular scheduled ​work with regular pay in the event of ​the death of the employee's, aunt, uncle, grandparent, grandchild or spouse's grandparent.
  • Full time employees are allowed up to four hours of bereavement leave to attend the funeral of a fellow employee or retiree of the ​University.

 

Limits of leave may be extended at the discretion of the employee’s supervisor and the Human Resources Director.
