2.1.22: Pets in the Workplace Policy
Effective August 14, 2026
Policy Statement: Employees may bring pets to campus with prior approval from their direct supervisor, provided the pet does not create a safety risk, nuisance, health concern, or disruption to University operations.
Approval to bring a pet to campus is a privilege, not a right, and may be denied or revoked at any time based on operational needs, workplace disruptions, health or safety concerns, or the needs of other employees.
Pet owners are responsible for maintaining control of their pets at all times and for ensuring their pets are healthy, well-behaved, appropriately vaccinated, and house-trained, when applicable.
The pet owner assumes full responsibility for cleaning up after the pet, any damage caused to University or personal property, and any injury or harm caused by the pet while on University property. Spalding University assumes no responsibility or liability for pets brought to campus.

- Keep pets on a leash while outdoors and ensure they are not tethered to University property.
- Confine pets to the employee's assigned office or workspace when indoors and minimize disruption to others.
- Immediately clean and properly dispose of any pet waste.
